9 month birthday

Baby is 9 months old today!  She had a check-up today as well and here are the updates:  She weighs 17 pounds and is now 27 1/4 inches long.  She falls in the 25th-50th percentile in those areas.
Sophia has certainly been doing a lot of new things over the past week!  She finally learned how to crawl last night and is now working on perfecting that.  She is getting better at walking along furniture and pulling herself up.  She sometimes lets go of the couch and takes a few steps on her own, so I'm sure it won't be long and she won't even need the couch!  It's amazing to see her master these skills!

Here is a little video of Miss Sophia walking along the couch- this was the first time she tried this and she did pretty well!  She also stood for a second by herself and took a 2 steps on her own until Lucas caught her, so we're not sure if we should call that her first steps or not.   Maybe we shouldn't get so excited that she is mobile! :o)  I hadn't even realized that she was able to stand by herself when standing beside something until she did it for her pictures last Friday!
Sophia also waved "bye bye" on command tonight, which she has not done before (at least not on command).  Yay!

Road Trip

We went on our first short family vacation yesterday to Fargo, ND- all in all, it went well overall.  Here are some pictures of Sophia's first time in a swimming pool and she really seemed to enjoy it!  She was curious about Lucas and I going under water, disappearing, and reappearing again. 

Here is also a little video of Sophia trying to crawl.  She gets up on all 4's and rocks back and forth- it's pretty cute seeing her concentrate on moving those legs:o)

No, No, No!!!

At a little over 8 months, Sophia learned a new gesture.  We can't help but assume that she learned it from her mother when her dad asks for something.  Regardless, Amber and I both recognized that she was doing it to make us laugh.  It's funny how parents pick up on the littlest things, but it was easy to see her laugh harder once she got us going.
